What's Inside the Pack

The Pre-Trail Checklist

12-item inspection before every disconnect — bolts, pins, boots, and clearance.

The Quick-Disconnect Protocol

5-step install and removal guide — from jack-up to trail-ready in under 20 minutes.

The Terrain Reference Card

One-page printable: when to disconnect by terrain type, speed limits, and reconnection triggers.

The Articulation Calculator

Input your rig specs — estimate wheel travel gain with sway bar disconnected vs connected.

The Pre-Trail Checklist

Run through these 12 checks before every disconnect. Skipped bolts and seized pins are the #1 cause of trail-side sway bar failures.

This checklist covers hardware inspection, clearance verification, tool prep, and reconnection readiness. Takes 5 minutes. Saves hours of trail-side frustration.

  • Inspect disconnect pins/bolts for wear, corrosion, or bent shafts
  • Check sway bar end link bushings — replace if cracked or missing chunks
  • Verify quick-disconnect brackets are tight — torque to spec
  • Test pin insertion/removal with sway bar unloaded — should be smooth
  • Check brake line clearance at full droop…
  • Verify ABS sensor wire slack…
  • Pack reconnection tools in trail bag…

The Quick-Disconnect Protocol

The 5-step process for installing and removing manual quick-disconnect sway bar links. Works for JKS, Rough Country, and most aftermarket kits.

Step-by-step with torque specs, tool requirements, and common mistakes. Average install time: 15-20 minutes with basic hand tools.

  1. Step 1 — Jack & Support
Jack front axle to ride height on jack stands. Sway bar must be unloaded — suspension hanging = seized pin. Both sides equal height.
  2. Step 2 — Remove Factory Links
18mm wrench on top nut, 15mm to hold the stud. Penetrating oil if seized. Don't cut — you may need to revert for road driving.
  3. Step 3 — Install Quick-Disconnect Posts…
  4. Step 4 — Set Pin Height & Clearance…
  5. Step 5 — Trail Test & Reconnection…
